The 2026 NEC Significant Code Changes Part 4 course satisfies four (4) hours of professional development. This fourth part covers Chapter 5 — Specific Occupancies (Articles 500–555) and Chapter 6 — Specific Equipment (Articles 600–695). Topics include hazardous location bonding consolidation, new cannabis cultivation requirements, health care facility updates, agricultural and marina voltage increases, new electric self-propelled vehicle article, EV charging updates including bidirectional provisions, swimming pool GFCI consolidation, solar PV rapid shutdown refinements, and fire pump circuit updates.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OR SKILL OBTAINED

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • • Identify the hazardous location bonding consolidation in Section 500.30 and the new optical radiation provision in 500.8
  • • Describe the new Article 512 requirements for cannabis cultivation facilities
  • • Apply the updated health care facility provisions in Article 517 including ESS as alternate power source
  • • Explain the agricultural equipotential plane requirements in Section 547.44 and the marina voltage increase in Article 555
  • • Describe new Article 624 for electric self-propelled vehicles and how it differs from Article 625
  • • Apply the 2026 EV charging updates in Article 625 including field markings, continuous load classification, and bidirectional provisions
  • • Identify the consolidated GFCI requirements in Article 680 for pools and aquatic facilities
  • • Explain the solar PV rapid shutdown refinements in Article 690 and fire pump circuit updates in Article 695
