Kentucky State Requirements

KentuckyKentucky professional engineers are required to earn 30 PDH biennially. All of the required hours can be earned through online continuing education courses. EZpdh.com courses are accepted by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors. The following table shows a quick rundown of license renewal requirements.

Course ApprovalThe Board does not require pre-approval for providers or specific courses. Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board’s requirements
Course ContentCourses must be (1) relevant to the practice of engineering, (2) contain technical, ethical, or managerial subjects, (3) be an organized program of learning, (4) be conducted by individuals with education, training or expertise, and (5) not include in-service training, orientation to specific institutional practices, or time used to advertise or sell a product
Online CoursesAccepted. For Professional Engineers, there is no limit on the number of PDHs that can be earned through online continuing education
PDH CarryoverA maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period
Additional
  1. PDH units earned by an engineer also holding a land surveying license can counted toward the land surveyor requirements
  2. PDH completion records must be maintained for a minimum of 4 years.
