Introduction to Electrical Design for Cathodic Protection Systems: 4 PDH
$24.00
This is an introduction to design and application of cathodic protection systems to mitigate corrosion in underground steel structures such as tanks and pipelines. Topics that will be covered in this course are the two principle methods used to mitigate corrosion, an introduction to the steps designing a sacrificial anode system and impressed current system and the field testing requirements needed for both of these systems. This course is intended for engineers with a current or prospective need to understand the fundamentals of protecting underground structures from corrosion using sacrificial anode and impressed current cathodic protection systems.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OR SKILL OBTAINED
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Learn the nine steps in designing a sacrificial anode system
- Learn the thirteen steps in designing an impressed current system
- Learn how to conduct field testing requirements for both of these systems
- Calculations for current requirements, life expectancy, rectifier voltage, and anodes needed
